THE REAL APPRENTICE RETURNS TO BIRMINGHAM

Opportunity to see career and learning options in action

The Real Apprentice, a free showcase which lets young people explore their options for the next step in learning or the first step in their career is returning to Birmingham after the success of the event in 2012.

This year’s Birmingham event will be held at Aston Villa FC on Monday 25th March from 3:30 – 8:00pm.

At the event, young people can learn more about the different courses and career paths available to them and get hands on with training providers to learn more about particular apprenticeships.

The event which has been put on by Career Creators, the leading network of training providers across Birmingham and Solihull is designed to provide school and college leavers with the opportunity to get to grips with, and fully understand the options available to them.

“Recent changes to legislation which mean young people have to stay in training or education until they’re 17 this year and 18 in 2014, make it imperative for learners to be aware of their options and be confident they are making informed decisions about their future.” said Martin Grubb, Chairman of the Career Creators network. “Whether it’s a foundation learning course to bring functional skills in English, Maths and ICT up to speed or an apprenticeship combining on the job learning and real experience, there are a wide array of courses and career paths available.”

Training providers from across Birmingham will be in exhibiting at the event, showcasing the choices available, from business administration through to construction, hairdressing, childcare and more, with the key message, that knowing what your course entails give you a real edge and ensures you pick the right path for you.

“Too many young people are pushed down a one-size fits all route, and it doesn’t have to be that way. Attending The Real Apprentice showcase will give you the information you need, the opportunity to find out more and ask questions, and make the right decision for you – not the one everyone else seems to be taking.”

In 2012 The Real Apprentice was a huge success with in excess of 280 young people visiting more than 30 exhibitor’s stands to review their options. As one parent put it “This is exactly what we needed.  The first time we have a child leaving school and so much information available tonight”
